High-Performance Solar Control at the European Space Agency
At the European Space Astronomy Center (ESAC), headquarters of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Madrid, thermal and light control have become a top priority. The building’s large glass surfaces caused excessive indoor heat and glare, impacting both comfort and energy efficiency.
To tackle this challenge, ESAC chose Solarcheck and its high-performance solar control film Sentinel Plus Silver 20, one of the most advanced on the market. This innovative architectural film offers 82% solar energy rejection and up to 90% infrared rejection, significantly reducing internal heat load. It also cuts glare by 82%, creating a more comfortable and productive work environment.
Thanks to this installation, the center will achieve an estimated saving of 519,480 kWh and €69,742 over the film’s warranty period, directly contributing to sustainability and carbon footprint reduction.
Beyond its outstanding performance, Sentinel Plus Silver 20 delivers a Hi-Tech and modern aesthetic, enhancing the ESA building’s innovative and technological image.
With projects like this, Solarcheck reinforces its commitment to energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainable architecture innovation.
